Are you a "Positive Re-enforcement" dog trainer?

This is one of the most common questions I receive and the answer does require some nuance. Dogs can not be taught to act mindfully and confidently with fear or pain as motivation. It is also true that dogs need a balanced and honest view of the world. Fear, uncertainty, and unpredictability are real, and in order to become all that they can be dogs must learn to interact with these parts of life constructively and successfully. Dogs should readily accept both yes and no without emotional cost. That is where real relationship and honest communication can exist between dog and handler.

What is the difference between an animal behaviorist, and a dog trainer?

This is an important question to answer before you choose a pet care professional to work with. Dog trainers he teach the "nuts and bolts" of handling your dog. Behaviorists are using behavioral science to alter your dogs environment and support systems in order to adjust the development of your dogs behavioral patterns.
