Border Collies have a well earned reputation for being very smart and Maisy is no exception. Another trait common to many dogs like her is a high drive and high energy level that can lead to bad behavior, and unpredictability.
Maisy is a classic Border Collie without a cause, with no direction for her endless energies she was trying to figure out life on her own and doing it at top speed.
She needed someone to give her direction, she needed boundaries and rules in order to build reasonable behaviors, she needed encouragement that she was making good decisions.
Staying with us she was able to explore he urges and whims then get honest, clearly understandable feedback about my feelings on her actions. Good reliable handling, clear messages, and communication that happens as quickly as she takes action all helped her to understand how she was effecting the people around her.
She is still a young dog and loves to play, but now she has the tools to grow and mature into a gentle and responsive dog. I see her relaxing and becoming happier with each passing week, it is one of the things that makes my job such a happy one.
